Wakirike Development Coalition is pleased to announce that the second edition of Wakirike Unity Concert will take place on Saturday 8th December 2018 at the Sharks Stadium, Civic Centre, Hospital Road, Port Harcourt. The Concert will feature one thousand voices choir representing all denominations and Wakirike communities in Okrika, Ogu/Bolo and Port Harcourt Local Government Areas, Nigeria.
As a development organisation, we felt it was important to project the positive things about the Wakirike clan which is gifted with exceptionally talented gospel, classical and folklore singers. A Unity Concert was agreed upon because music connects people in ways no other medium can. The main goal of the concert is to foster unity among all Wakirike communities, that this powerful show of unity will speak where words fail and unite the various religious, political and community factions as we make progress away from the dark days of militancy. We also hope to extend the Christ-like love such Unity will engender, to our immediate neighbours – the Ikwerres, Elemes, Ogonis, Ibanis, Kalabaris and by extension the entire Rivers State, the Ijaw Nation and our beloved country. The concert is free because we want everyone who is interested to be part of a fantastic evening of singing and dancing as we renew our hearts towards lasting peace and unity in the Wakirike clan. Another goal is that with the support of Wakirike people and the general public we will present the upgraded version of the Kirikeni Okwein App to make it easier for Wakirike people all over the world to learn our language and prevent an indigenous language from going extinct.
Wakirike Unity Concert will feature “The Big Sing” Congregational Hymns, Classical songs, Wakirike folksongs and gospel music. The event will bring together our clergy, traditional rulers, members of the Executive, Judiciary and Legislative arms of government as well as the rest of the public, private, community and voluntary sectors. Come and join us for an awesome evening of angelic entertainment and support for good causes.
For everyone please join my give back day fundraising on Eventbrite and do watch the promo here.
